Event: presenter on Rai’s RadioDue tells voters to rip up their voting papers and throw them in the bin.
Bad because: presenters on public service broadcasters shouldn’t be making political statements.
Good because: at least he’s not beholden to a party.

I would say though that Fiorello is more of a comedian than a presenter. It may have been hyjinks rather than a considerate political statement.
Posted 20 Feb 2008 at 727 ¶Thanks for the comment, which is absolutely true; but nevertheless the way comedians behave is also important. You don’t need to cite the Daily Show or the Colbert Report to know that politicians love it when comedians help them. They can reach the parts that other news media can’t.
