Italian polling update, 26-02-08

It’s funny how one or two polls can change the shape of a trend line. It seems that the PD’s rally has come to a stop. That’s certainly seen on today’s graph, which is updated up to today’s Euromedia poll (fieldwork: 22/02/08). Other polling sites have the PD going backwards because they include a Crespi poll published today, but not yet available on www.sondaggipoliticoelettorali.it. Crespi attributes this to the fall-out caused by the Radicals being included in the PD’s list. This is possible, but, without wishing to get into dietrologia too early in the game, it is also possible that Crespi – Berlusconi’s former pollster and previously arrested for false accounting – tends to underestimate support for the PD. He’s undershot the trend line on both occasions for which we have data.
