Italy pollling update 05-03-08: gap 8.8%

With new polls in from Digis and IPR over the weekend – the latter with a sample of 2,000 – our trend lines, and consequently the gap between the two major parties – change again. The PD’s ascent has now gone into reverse: the gap stands at 8.8%.

Don’t quite know what to make of Digis, which has no track record of national polling, nor are they members of the national association for pollsters. They’ve done some work for the left in the past, but since their voting intention figures play second fiddle to their estimates of the party leaders’ sincerity, ability and likeability, I’d suggest that they’re probably more engaged in market research. IPR, on the other hand, gets bonus points for reporting the dates of fieldwork accurately in their graphics, instead of just slapping on the last day of field work. Well done them.
