The old PCI Right reminds me a bit of the Old Labour Right - a genuine core of principle buried under a dogged commitment to realism and doing business and generally keeping the show on the road, even if the people they end up doing business with are criminals and buffoons. If Berlusconi or Bossi keeled over tomorrow Napolitano would give him the "luci e ombre, ma..." treatment; it's all part of being a grande statista. Everyone leaves it to Di Pietro to tell it like it is, then tuts at him for being disrespectful. Napolitano, eh?
